Renal System Herbs

This page includes herbs that exhibit actions on the renal system (kidneys) such as: stimulating diuretic, relaxant diuretic, pelvic tonic/astringents, demulcent, etc. The herbs listed here do not fall under all of these categories; with each herb I have included what its main effect would be on the renal system, but many of these herbs have even more effects on this system, and on many other systems in the body, especially the urinary system. Do not use herbs to treat serious kidney conditions unless you’re under the guidance of a licensed herbalist. If you have a concern about your kidneys, please seek medical attention. Please see the Materia Medica page, or Teas & Guides, for more information on specific herbal actions.
